Gemma is Subject Lead for Religion & Ethics and oversees SMSC and British Values her secondary school in County Durham, where she has worked for 19 years and gained Gold twice for the SMSC Quality Mark. Alongside her teaching role, Gemma is also a member of her Academy Trust Personal Development team, helping both Primary and Secondary schools further develop their SMSC and British Values provision along with other strands of Personal Development.

Gemma strives to show that it is a vital element of a student’s development to understand and identify where they belong in the world and how they have the power to enrich the world with their character and enthusiasm. Gemma works with both students and staff to support them to see the importance of SMSC and British Values in all aspects of school life.
